In what may be one of the greatest developments on the site ever, Facebook has announced that it is testing a new tool that enables you to see ‘less of’ somebody in your feed, without having to unfriend them.
The tool is specifically designed to “improve the experience” – or lessen the pain – of a dead relationship.
Instead of having to unfriend somebody, you can now opt to “see less of” their pictures and updates.
Facebook will stop posting picture of your ex in your timeline, too.
The new tool also enables you to hide your status updates from your ex, so he’ll see less of you.
“Starting today, we are testing tools to help people manage how they interact with their former partners on Facebook after a relationship has ended,” the company said.
“When people change their relationship status to indicate they are no longer in a relationship, they will be prompted to try these tools.”
Facebook hopes the new tools will help people “who may be going through difficult moments in their lives”.
“We hope these tools will help people end relationships on Facebook with greater ease, comfort and sense of control,” the company said.
