We’ve all experienced it once in our lives. That awkward moment when you turn up to an event, in an outfit that took some serious planning only to find someone else in the very same dress. While some of us might have a ‘princess moment’ (also known as a tantrum in a toilet cubical) a true Princess holds herself with grace and elegantly laughs her way through the ordeal while winning hearts the world over.
This was the tale of Crowned Princess Mary of Denmark (our Mary from Hobart) at the Magasin du Nord Fashion Prize.
When the 45-year-old arrived primed and prepped for her royal duties at the event in Copenhagen earlier this week, she discovered she was wearing the same dress by Danish designer Britt Sisseck as the event’s host.
Whoops! That awkward moment when the event’s host (L) and the royal guest of honour wear the exact same dress.
Princess Mary and Nina Wedell-Wedellsborg were in fits of laughter when they spotted each other in the Britt Sisseck dress.
The dress in question is from the designer’s Autumn/Winter collection and retails for around $700 and features a unique pattern and blend of hues.
Princess Mary accessorised her dress with a wide, navy blue leather belt and matching clutch, while Nina Wedell-Wedellsborg, board member at the Magasin du Nord Foundation, paired her patterned number with a chunky black heel.
However, the difference in accessories was not enough to disguise the fact the women were in the same dress. But, this did not upset the women, who are also friends, instead thew were seen it fits of laughter during the event as they carried on their duties with professionalism and elegance.

Wedell-Wedellsborg later told the media that identical dress drama was absolutely coincidental.
