Number 10

In June Mary attended a Euro 2020 match in Denmark wearing this casual white dress and luxe Alexander McQueen blazer, completing the look with a brown bag by Chloe. This outfit was the perfect embodiment of ‘casual chic’ and showed the princess’ more relaxed side.

As much as we all love seeing Mary in a short dress or ballgown, the princess looks just as good in a tailored suit. She chose this grey one for a visit to UNFPA’s State Of World Population Report Releasein april, paiting it with a soft while blouse and pumps to add a feminine touch.

Mary embraced a more classic style for an outing on Denmark’s Flag Day in September, pairing a Max Mara printed silk dress with a black Prada coat and statement brooch. It was her oversized hat that tied the look together though, and put it firmly in ninth place on our list.

Mary recycled her favourite red Alexander McQueen blazer when she spoke at CFS +, a digital summit focusing on sustainable fashion.

She paired the staple piece with a black blouse, wide-leg trousers and pumps to ensure the focus was on her blazer, which she wore several times this year alone – talk about embodying the sustainable fashion message! See another time she wore it in the video below.

Number 6

Mary stole the show in this off-the-shoulder number when she and Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark attended the Crown Prince couples yearly Award Show in September.

She looked so good that it’s hard to believe her outfit is actually made up of a black blouse and a $265 H&M dress she had cut into a skirt, and has worn multiple times before.

Number 5

Ravishing in red! Mary stole our breath away in this $1,224 dress from Brazilian designer Raquel Diniz at the official opening of “Copenhagen 2021”, but it’s not the first time we’ve seen this gown. She wore it before in 2019 but just like a fine wine, Mary’s recycled outfits only get better with time.

Number 4

It seems like such a simple outfit, but Mary gave us all a masterclass in the monochrome trend when she paired this red Hugo Boss blouse with matching pants to play a game of soccer with Danish children.

Completing the look with a tan belt and white sneakers, the princess inspired return-to-office outfits everywhere with this look.

Number 3

Wide pants have been one of the hottest trends of 2021 and Princess Mary embraced them more than once this year, but this outfit she donned for Copenhagen Pride was our favourite.

She let her $790 pastel pink pants by 3.1 Phillip Lim do the talking as she accessorised with a puff-sleeve Britt Sisseck blouse and minimal jewellery, but the look was a hit and was one of our favourites this year.

Number 2

Though her wardrobe is versatile, Mary definitely has a signature style and her elegance and poise was on display when she donned this outfit for her eldest son, Prince Christian’s confirmation.

Dressed in an Iris & Ink polka-dot satin midi dress, the princess added a simple fascinator, glittering brooch an nude pumps to complete our second-favourite look of the year.

Number 1

Have you ever seen an outfit that is more qunitessentially Mary? The Danish royal took our breath away in this pink Marc Jacobs dress and Gianvito Rossi python pumps, accessorising with gold bangles as she let her natural beauty shine through.

Not only has Mary worn this dress before (a few times, actually), proving her dedication to more sustainable fashion once again, it totally embodies her elegant approach to fashion. It’s a true winner in our eyes and has to be our favourite fashion moment from her in 2021.
