2019 is set to be a landmark year for Prince Harry and Meghan the Duchess of Sussex.
Not only are the couple due to welcome their first baby any day now, they’ve also finally relocated from Kensington Palace to their new home Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.
The exciting developments were announced last year by Kensington Palace in an official statement, which read: “Windsor is a very special place for Their Royal Highnessess and they are grateful that their official residence will be on the estate.”
The sprawling residence, which was gifted to the couple from The Queen, sits within the private Home Park and looks out onto the stunning grounds of Frogmore House.
Indeed, the sacred grounds of Frogmore hold a special place in Meghan and Harry.
In December 2018, the couple’s breathtaking engagement shoot were captured by renowned fashion snapper Alexi Lubomirski at Frogmore House.
Then in May last year, the royal love birds returned to Windsor for their historical wedding at St George’s Chapel followed by reception celebrations at Frogmore House.
The cottage, which is split up into five apartments, was previously used to house royal staff and have been described as a “little bit run-down” but extensive renovations have ensured it’s in sparkling condition for it’s incoming royal residents.

While it might not be a palace per se, it still boasts a whopping 10 bedrooms and it’s believed the duo will be adding a gym, yoga studio and baby nursery during their overhaul.
Perhaps the biggest draw card behind their decision to leave London is just how private the grounds are.
“It’s much more private than Kensington Palace. The Queen would put on her wellies and walk her dogs there. Harry and Meghan can walk their dogs, go anywhere in the park freely,” The Queen’s former chef Darren McGrady told Hello! magazine.
Adding that the couple will get to enjoy a relaxed country lifestyle.
“[They] can sit and look across at the Royal Household Cricket Club and listen to the wood on willow on a Sunday. Then you can sit in the back garden and look out onto Frogmore Gardens which is where Harry and Meghan had their evening wedding reception. And then Sunday afternoon is perfect. You just walk five minutes up the hill for afternoon tea with Granny, with the Queen, at Windsor Castle.”

Of course, Windsor is drenched in royal history with the Royal Burial Grounds lying on the Frogmore Estate on Windsor Home Park.
It’s believed The Queen and Prince Philip will be buried next to each other in Frogmore Gardens on the grounds of their beloved Windsor Castle.
Although a vast majority of past British monarchs are laid to rest in St George’s Chapel and Westminster Abbey, Queen Elizabeth’s parents and younger sister, Princess Margaret, are all buried at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.
Queen Victoria and Price Albert are also buried on the site.
