A Sydney woman has started an online petition to catch a suspected serial pet killer who has taken the lives of at least 20 family pets in Werrington, Sydney, over the last month.
The animals are tortured and their bodies dumped, sometimes up to 20 km away. Desperate pet owners are turning to social media, asking for help to catch the killer and calling for justice for their pets.
The latest victim of the horrendous attacks was a beloved family dog named Honey.
Linda Varley, Honey’s owner, describes the dog as “mum’s sweet 14 yr old Jack Russell and much-loved member of the family.”
Linda started a change.org petition to catch the “man” who “brutally tortured and mutilated” Honey.
“Her body [was] tossed away without a thought. We found her lifeless corpse in a neighbour’s yard,” Linda continues.
The post calls for justice for Honey and a crackdown on animal cruelty laws in NSW.
The moving tribute concludes with an emptional goodbye.
“Rip little honey girl xx”
The petition currently has over 40,000 supporters.
Ginger, the cat, is another victim of this terrifying killer.
Ginger’s owner, Lauren Sedaca, found her missing cat with “her stomach cut open and dumped on the main road 20 km from our location.”
Lauren is also a Werrington local.
“She was a very much loved family pet!! Who is cherished and sadly missed,” explains Lauren on Ginger’s change.org page.
Lauren claims there have been reports of a man sighted in the area attempting to abduct cats.
Both incidents are being investigated by St Mary’s Police.
We very much hope that no more lives are taken in this disturbing ordeal.
