She's now urging others to adopt.
Mayim Bialik adopts cat

Self-professed cat lover and mother-of-two Mayim Bialik, who plays Dr Amy Farrah-Fowler on The Big Bang Theory, has a new family member.

The real-life neuroscientist has just adopted a special needs cat who she’s decided to call Adamantium. That’s right Adamantium – or “Addie” for short.

“She was born without a pectoral muscle and is in a cast for a few weeks more,” Mayim explained to her fans on Instagram. “Her name is Adamantium because she has metal inside of her.”

Adamantium is the fictional metal that features in Marvel comics and is found inside Wolverine, so basically this name confirms Mayim has a nerdy streak both on and off the set.

She also urged others to #AdoptDontStop. Posting another photo of Addie captioned: “Our @shelterchic adopted #adamantium baby is adjusting nicely. If You have a heart and home that can take on a #specialneeds or senior pet, contact the folks at shelter chic!!!”

This isn’t the first time Mayim has been a champion for cats. She was a special guest at CatConLA and often posts pictures of her other felines to social media.

^Awe too cute.

Welcome to the family, little Adamantium. Here’s hoping your muscle heals well.
