How much do you love your pet?
I mean we all love our pets, obviously. But do you love your doggo pal or kitty friend enough to get them anointed by a priest?
Of course you do, and lucky you – this month you’ll have your chance!
During the celebration of the Feast of St Francis of Assisi, a celebration of the Catholic Church’s patron saint of animals and the environment, pets are often blessed by Church officials.
The celebration usually takes place on October 4th of each year but don’t worry, you haven’t missed your chance to get your very good dog/cat consecrated.
St Brigid’s Church, 378 Nicholson Street, Fitzroy in Melbourne will be conducting a Blessing of the Animals event on October 28th.
And for those who can’t make it to Melbourne, never fear! There’s a belated event in Sydney as well.
St Francis of Assisi’s Church, 463 Oxford Street, Paddington, will be holding an event on October 14th, from 9:30 am to 12 pm.
So prep your cats, dogs, goldfish, rabbits, guinea pigs and birds – they’re about to get the blessing of a lifetime.
Mind you, they are already the purest creatures on earth – but hey, anything to celebrate how much better they make our lives.
Don’t have a pet? Don’t worry! Head down for a cuddle anyway, you’ll probably see us there.
