A family of four has been kicked off a Southwest plane following complaints of their children creating a disturbance.
“1, 2,3,4 … 5 police and a crime dog… because two kids were noisy on a flight,” explains Casey Schilling in a video he posted to Facebook, as he jokingly refers to his family as “airport convicts.”
Casey and his wife Erin Gatling have two children under the age 4. In the video, they explain they don’t know why there were not allowed to reboard their Southwest Airline flight after a brief stopover on their way home from holiday.
Erin explained in a post on her own Facebook page that the kids did not scream or cry at all during the flight.
“My biggest frustration is that no one will tell me what ‘being a disturbance’ means. The only further explanation was ‘running up and down the isle and jumping on tray tables’,” she writes.
Both Casey and Erin deny any event of the sort took place.
In a comment following his video, Casey says he was arrested because they didn’t like him taking video of the situation. He was then taken to a local jail for a few hours, leaving his wife with the two children and a sprained ankle waiting for help at the airport.
” A police officer told my wife I was being arrested for bumping someone with the stroller. I never bumped anyone with our stroller. I didn’t get out of my seat the whole flight or order any refreshments,” he writes.
He then confirms the family were in a hotel and trying to figure out how to get home.
Yahoo Australia spoke to Southwest Airlines who had a different version of events than the one given by the Schilling/Gatling family.
Among other things, the Airline said the family were not following onboard instructions. After attempts to discuss the instructions which the family was breaching were met with unwillingness, the airport police were involved.
The Airline continued to explain that they refunded the family after they refused to discuss safety onboard their flight.
Yahoo reports the family have a course case in November.
