Woman thinks she has kidney stones, gives birth to baby boy

“We had 30 minutes notice.”

The last thing you’d expect to happen when you head to the emergency room for kidney stone treatment is to leave the hospital with a full-term baby.

Well, this is exactly what happened to mum-of-two (now three) Stephanie Jaegers. She arrived at Piedmont Henry Hospital in the city of Stockbridge, Georgia, in the U.S. with her husband Michael, before giving birth to her son, Shaun Jude Jaegers, just 30 minutes later.

While many critics were quick to jump on social media to question how Stephanie, who was 38 weeks pregnant at the time of the birth, did not know she was expecting, her husband Michael took to Facebook to clarify.

“Steph was diagnosed with pre-menopause awhile back which would justify the hormone imbalance also associated with a pregnancy,” he wrote.

“Shaun was also breech throughout the entire pregnancy, which prevented him from moving around to indicate to Steph that he was in there and his position made it to where Steph didn’t ‘show’.”

“The most bizarre part is she continued to have a menstrual cycle, which the hospital tells us is rare, but can happen,” he continued.

“I can’t even begin to explain to you guys the range of emotions we’ve experienced over the last 12 hours. I went from googling ‘kidney stone treatments’ to a panic attack over the fact that not only were we pregnant, but the baby was coming within the hour.”

In an interview with InsideEdition.com, Stephanie echoed her husband’s rationale, adding that “she never had morning sickness” and “no added weight gain” – she just thought she was “moody” because she was premenopausal.

However, Stephanie is grateful little Shaun is now a part of their family.

“It’s hard when in like 30 minutes you learn that you are having a baby tonight,” she said.

“I do believe everything is meant to be. We are grateful he is here and he is sweet little baby.”
