Doctors were stunned to find a New Zealand woman who was in hospital to have her ovaries removed was actually 32 weeks pregnant.
The New Zealand Herald reported that Rebecca Oldham had several tests, including three scans, two blood tests and six pregnancy tests to explain severe abdominal cramping.
But it wasn’t until Rebecca was admitted into hospital that doctors discovered she was carrying a baby.
The 25-year-old, who already had a daughter, was woken by doctors and told she was about to have a second child.
“I am so glad they woke me and told me I was going to have another baby,” Rebecca told The New Zealand Herald.
“Even though it was short notice it was better than waking up and being handed a baby.”
An emergency caesarean was performed and Rebecca and her partner, James, welcomed their son, also named James.
