Whenever a celebrity announces the name of their newborn, we’re always keen to see if they opted for something traditional or something a little more quirky.
Whilst we love an old-fashioned moniker, there’s something special about those unusual baby names and when Kylie Jenner welcomed her second child this month, we knew it would be a cracker.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, the makeup mogul revealed her second child’s name to be Wolf Webster.
According to The Bump, Wolf is a German boy’s name that is taken from the animal of the same name. Tradition says that a baby with the name Wolf will grow up to be smart and courageous, like the wild canine.
It may sound like an original choice but it turns out Kylie and partner Travis Scott are just the latest celebrities to join in the craze of calling their children Wolf, or some variation of it.
Hollywood A-listers including Jason Momoa, Zooey Deschanel and have chosen ‘Wolf’ as part of their children’s names.
The Hills star Lauren Wolf revealed the animal name came from her hsuband William Tell’s side of the family.
“I found it on a really old trunk at his grandmother’s house and she was like, ‘Oh, yeah. We had a bunch of Wolves in our family,’ so it kind of stuck with me and I just liked it,” she explained.
Here in Australia we’ve also seen some celebrities choose the name.
Former Home and Away star Jake Ryan and his partner Alice Quiddington welcomed their son Wolf William Ryan in 2019.
“He is absolutely beautiful and I am obsessed with his name!!! Congratulations you two! So thrilled for you both xox lots and lots of love,” one of Alice’s followers penned at the time of Wolf’s birth.
Even our favourite Bachie host jumped on the trend, though his son’s full name is slightly different.
When Osher Günsberg announced the arrival of his and wife Audrey Griffen’s son, he wrote on Instagram: “Please meet Georgia’s youngest brother, Wolfgang. We call him Wolfie for short.”
Osher later revealed his son’s name comes is a nod to his favourite composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Close enough!
Who will be the next celebrity parent to join the Wolf clan?
