Unless your child is a perfect eater, you’ll know the daily struggle that is trying to prepare a healthy family meal and get your kids to eat said dinner.
Aussie blogger Beth Macdonald who writes the popular parenting blog BabyMac knows this challenge well, and has produced a hilarious parody of the top-rating cooking show MasterChef to highlight this common cooking conundrum.

Of course instead of expert chefs and food connoisseurs judging the cooking Beth serves up, her cooking ceations are judged by her two daughters – the harshest of critics.
Beth told Mother & Baby that she was inspired to create the lol-worthy parody as she watched recent episodes of MasterChef. “My husband and I watched the last season and found the narrative and pieces to camera [when contestants explain their cooking] hilarious.”
“Cooking for kids and their very tough standards were the perfect judges,” she explained.
Titled “MaccaChef”, the video firstly shows Beth explaining her two far-from-gourmet meals of choice; the classic ham and cheese toastie and a boiled egg with soldiers.
In classic MasterChef style – complete with suspensful music – we watch as Beth creates her meals in her own MaccaChef Pressure Test and explains what she is doing each step of the way.
“The water seems to be taking an age to boil, and I’m really worried there isn’t going to be anything on the plate.” Sound familiar?
When time’s up and Beth has plated-up with not a second to spare (phew!), her daughters step-in to taste-test and score Beth’s creations. But is her score strong enough to make it to the next cook… breakfast?
Lucky for us, Beth plans on putting together more MaccaChef episodes when she finds the time in her busy day-to-day life.
“Life is very busy with a new baby and work and big kids and not to mention having to cook dinner every single night!”
And her advice to mum’s struggling to get their kids to eat? “Try and get your kids involved as much as you can – either in the preparation (or if you don’t have the time, patience or inclination for that) then at least with them putting their meals together at the table.”
“Just keep with it, as soul destroying as it can be,” Beth reassures.
