When inspirational burns survivor Turia Pitt revealed that she was pregnant in June, our hearts filled with love and joy for the 29-year-old motivational speaker.
Turia, who suffered burns to 65 per cent of her body during an ultra-marathon in September 2011, has said that she always wanted children – something she asked doctors if she would still be able to do following her horrific experience in The Kimberelys.
“One of the first questions I asked was if I would still be able to have children,” Turia explains.
“I always get asked if I can have children. People assume that I cannot because I have been burned but the doctors never said, ‘You’re going to struggle’, never said I had to adjust my expectations. On the inside, everything is fine.”
