Former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s 29-year-old daughter Frances has welcomed her first child with husband Sam Loch.
The proud new dad shared the news on his Instagram page, telling fans that the newborn had arrived safely in Portland, Oregon.
Sharing a picture of Frances looking ecstatic to hold her son, the former Australian rower wrote: “Ernest Loch – Born on his Due Date, July 11. Tipping the scales at an even 9lb.”
He continued: “Brought into existence by his mum with nothing but breathing, coconut water and heart.”
The pair were immediately flooded with comments from well wishers, with one referencing Ernest’s impressive weight: “Tank! Congratulations guys, that’s awesome.”
Another added: “Massive congratulations to all three. Next chapter begins mate.”
“Congratulations!! 9lbs? Natural?! Frances is a lady beast!!” One more quipped.

“Opportunities to adapt are chances to experience wonder. Our bodies are truly adaptable and wonderful things. My awe and appreciation grows with my belly,” she wrote alongside a professional snap of herself and her bump last week.
Frances and Sam married twice back in 2018 – the first a smaller ceremony on Valentines Day, followed by a family celebration on April 29.
For the latter, Frances and Sam hosted guests at a private ceremony in Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
Keeping with a casual theme, Frances wore a two piece set by Aussie brand Keepsake featuring a one shouldered crop-top and matching skirt.
To finish the look, she added Adidas slides.
Tony has three daughters, with Frances being his second eldest.
Working as a fitness instructor while husband Sam works for Adidas, there’s no doubt their little one will grow up with sports and athletics a part of his DNA.
