Most mothers are in a constant struggle to dress their toddlers every day, some kids throw tantrums, some insist on only wearing their Spiderman costume every day, some kids might only wear the colour blue.
Chasing a change from the chaos, Babble Mummy blogger, Summer Bellessa, let her toddler Rockwell dress her every day for a week.
Picking from her wardrobe, the tiny fashionista put his Mum in flowery socks with sparkly shoes, polka dot tights with Mickey Mouse shirts, and even two different shoes! The stylish blogger says that the change was “liberating”, and the most important thing she learned from her experiment was to find time to “be silly”.
“Silliness is good for your kids and for your heart. Don’t take yourself too serious: they’re just clothes”.
Day 1: Day One of Rockwell’s fashion picks included a cool Bob Dylan tee, paired with a pencil skirt and tights – a choice that Summer loved. Then Rockwell, without hesitating, added nude pumps, a blue hoodie and a straw hat.
Day 2: Day Two saw Summer decked out in her Mickey Mouse pyjama tee and polka dot leggings, and don’t forget glittery flats!
Day 3: Going with a floral motif, ‘Rock’ went with a blue floral dress, which he matched with knee-high purple and green flower-print socks, striped pink sneakers, and a khaki parka jacket (of course).
Day 4: Day Three was a challenge, Rockwell picked out three shirts and two different shoes for his Mum. Persuaded to switch a shirt for some pants, Summer ended up two layered tees and two shoes. The start of a new trend, we think.
Day 5: The week ended on a subdued note, Rockwell selected this blue sweatshirt, “because it has arrows on it”. With the search for arrow-adorned pants a failure, blue jeans were chosen, along with two different boots. “Are these close enough?” We think so.
