A toddler has been found alone and starving, locked in his house, after the deaths of his mother and his younger brother.
The two-year-old boy was found by firefighters who were alerted to the scene by a neighbour. The firefighters, who were able to force entry into the Hollywood, LA, apartment, were shocked at the scene they discovered upon entry.
Firefighters found the little boy wondering the house, with the bodies of his mother and his baby brother in the next room.
“It’s very sad. He was fending for himself, opening drawers and trying to find food,” said an LAPD spokesperson.
It believed that the boy was left on his own for more than two days.
The mother, 45-year-old Erika Tomassian, was found dead on the floor in a seated position and is believed to have died of ‘natural causes’, whilst her youngest son, believed to be named Michael, was found still strapped into his chair.
The little boy died of asphyxiation, having choked on his food.
Tomassian is thought to have adopted the two boys recently.
