The Things I Miss Most When I’m Pregnant

Lauren from The Preggo Files loves fitness, but pregnancy has made keeping fit a little more challenging than usual...

When you’re pregnant there’s a giant list of what you can and can’t do. If you want the best outcome, your best bet is to stick to it.

I’m in my third trimester of second pregnancy and it’s has been quite a while since I was able to do a few things that I’m itching to get out and do now.

Thankfully I’m on the home stretch now, it feels so close yet so far away, but I will admit, I can’t wait to be able to do these things again!

1. I miss being able to crack a cold one and go out for a few drinks

I’m not much of a drinker these days but I miss the freedom to have a drink if I want to. Even though my friends started a joke that I can’t stay out past 5pm because I get tired and want to go to bed. In hindsight that’s true, but I always have good intentions!

2. I miss being able to lift heavy weights

The thrill of training to the best of my ability is something that I love and that I am passionate about. I still weight train while I’m pregnant, however if I was to lift as much weight as I used to now, I would probably either break my own waters or wet my pants.

3. I miss being able to run without breaking into contractions or having to wee

And if it’s not for those reasons, it’s because my boobs are so gigantic that they’d hit me in the face and knock me out. Even just walking on the treadmill at the gym becomes a hard task because I have to stop the machine every couple of minutes to run to the bathroom to wee. The reception staff get a laugh out of it!

4. I miss feeling sexy

I love my pregnancy curves, but when my boobs sit on top of my bump, and I don’t have the energy to wear anything other than gym tights, trackies and whatever singlet fits, I don’t feel that I ooze any sort of sex appeal and it does get hard sometimes. Luckily my daughter is there to tell me that I’m beautiful.

But keeping positive…

Although there are a few things that I miss about not being pregnant, I absolutely love having my little boy with me every single second of the day and feeling his kicks that could be compared to that of a kickboxer.

Pregnancy has its hard moments – which I’ve experienced many of – but I appreciate every single moment of it because it’s a gift.

I’m 33 weeks now, so it won’t be long until I can go to the gym for a heavy weights session which will make me feel sexy again. I’m looking forward to being able to go running around playing with Madi – without weeing myself – and then I’ll be able to sit down, cuddle my two gorgeous children. Plus once they’ve finally gone to bed, I’ll be able to sit back and at last and crack that cold one, and relax.

Maybe!

Ok, well I might need to wait a few months and express a few bottles before I crack the coldy!
