The sippy cups making your children ill

If your child has a sippy cup, you should open up the lid right now.

A horrified father discovered mould growing within the lids of his child’s baby cups, inside the anti-leak mechanism of the mouthpiece.

The sippy cup is of the brand Tommee Tippee, an international baby products manufacturer.

The man hadn’t even thought to open up the cup and inspect it until a friend wondered out loud why his child was getting sick so often.

It was then he found the thick layer of brown mould.

The parent phoned Tommy Tippee customer services, and claims that the woman on the end of the line laughed at the allegation.

In fury at the response, the parent’s friend, Penny Powell, from Canada, took to Facebook to spread the news about the mouldy products and share the photos.

Tommy Tippee responded in a statement: “We are taking this extremely seriously as baby health and wellbeing is at the heart of absolutely everything we do.”

“Nothing is more important, so we would never take a customer complaint lightly; it goes against everything we stand for,” they continued.

Additionally, Tommee Tippee recommends the cups only be used with cold fluids — including water and non-pulp juices — rather than thick or warm liquids, such as milk or pulpy juices.

So, if you haven’t been washing the inside of the spill guard, throw out the cup and get a fresh new one.
