Sylivia Jeffreys has put those pregnancy rumours to bed, taking aim at a local publication who published paparazzi shots of the former Today show newsreader gently touching her stomach while out with a friend in Sydney’s Double Bay.
In an article on Wednesday night, The Daily Mail showed images of 32-year-old Sylvia, with what they labelled an “emerging baby bump,” and suggested that she might have something “to tell us”.
Pregnancy rumours have surrounded the journalist and her husband of two years, Peter Stefanovic in recent times, and it appears she’s finally had enough.
Screenshotting and sharing the article to her Twitter feed and Instagram stories, Sylvia wrote: “Nope, not pregnant.”
“The only one fuelling that rumour would be you, @DailyMailAU. But thanks for the subtle reminder to wear spanx on all casual outings.”
And it’s not just the publication who Sylvia dropped the mic on.
One Twitter commenter pointed out that Sylvia was touching her stomach, asking “What are we to expect?”
“That I was feeling very satisfied with my breakfast,” was the television star’s perfect response.
While it looks like there’s no baby on the way, there’s still big changes ahead for Sylvia and her husband, 37-year-old Peter Stefanovic who wed back in April 2017 after meeting on the set of Nine’s Weekend Today in 2013.
For starters, Sylvia has announced that she will not return to Today in 2019.
In a statement to the Daily Telegraph in late 2018, Sylvia confirmed the rumours that her time on the Today desk had come to an end.
“I’ve loved and embraced every minute of my Today Show chapter and feel humbled to have worked with so many passionate people – hosts, studio crew, cameramen and producers – who have become my great mates. There are few shows that are fortunate to have such an engaged audience, and I thank our viewers for inviting me into their homes day after day,” she said.
“I’m thrilled to sink my teeth into a brand new project. Opportunity often knocks when you least expect it and I’m ready to dive right in to what’s ahead of me.”
Peter, who has also announced his departure from the nine network in recent weeks, has previously spoken about his desire to start a family with his beautiful wife.
“It’s something we both want to do,” the 36-year-old revealed to news.com.au’s podcast Balls Deep in July 2018.
Before adding: “I feel I’d be missing out if we didn’t have a kid, but we’re both pretty busy with our work at the moment.”

Likewise, in November, 2017, Sylvia told The Australian Women’s Weekly that she and Peter were keen to start their family and intend to raise their children in the same spirit with which they were raised – with lots of sun, sea and surf.
“We’d love a house full of kids.”
“Our hope is that down the track, we could have a house on the Gold Coast so that our kids can have the same experiences with their cousins that we both had as kids with our cousins,” she told The Weekly.
So, there may not be baby news yet, but one day those stomach touches will have exciting news for us, and we can’t wait.
