The Strong Women Challenge, by ActionAid Australia, sees participants commit to doing a strength-building challenge every day for 21 days (from 4 to 25 November), and encourage friends and family to sponsor their efforts.

The workouts – led by high-energy Master Trainer Ali Cavill – are shared on the website and can be completed in the privacy of your own loungeroom, at your own convenience.

There’s no charge to sign up for the challenge, and the exercises have been designed to require little to no equipment. You’ll also get access to healthy recipes to ensure you’re well-nourished during the challenge, and mindfulness tips to help you feel strong from within.

Getting access to three weeks’ worth of free personal training not enough to convince you? You’ll find three more reasons why you should sign up for the Strong Women Challenge today below …

1. Women shoulder a disproportionate amount of the world’s labour, but their strength often goes unrecognised

Women perform 66 percent of the world’s work, produce 50 percent of the world’s food, and do much of the world’s heavy lifting – carrying water long distances, taking care of their families, and ensuring their communities are safe and healthy. And yet this work tends to go unseen – and is often unpaid. On top of this, women earn just 10 percent of the world’s income and own 1 percent of the property.

By doing the Strong Women Challenge you will be celebrating and recognising the often unacknowledged strength of women everywhere – the strength required to lift communities out of poverty and achieve justice for women on a global scale.

2. You’ll be helping to raise critical funds to support strong women around the world to stand up and fight for their rights

When provided with the opportunity, women are incredibly powerful agents of change. When women are empowered to lead, they are able to secure greater access to and control over resources, help their communities build resilience and adapt to climate change, and stand up to protect their communities when humanitarian crises and conflicts hit.

Every dollar raised through the Strong Women Challenge helps ActionAid Australia support women around the world to build their own strength to lead and fight for their rights – empowering them to be recognised and treated as the strong women we know them to be.
