When youโre expecting, youโre inundated with heaps of advice from other mums ranging from the best maternity clothes to morning sickness cures.
But when Nineโs Sylvia Jeffreys shared a pregnancy update on her Instagram account, fellow TV journalist Sarah Harris shared a top tip for inducing labour that has the seal of approval from many other mums.
Sylvia Jeffreys is expecting her first child with husband, Peter Stefanovic.
(Image: Instagram @sylviajeffreys)Posting two photos alongside husband Peter Stefanovic, 33-year-old Sylvia revealed that her pregnancy is coming to an end and it hasnโt exactly been comfortable as of late.
โThose โhome stretchโ vibes are kicking in hard, much like our babyโs feet into my ribs,โ the Nine reporter captioned her post.
And while her post was met with tons of positive comments, there was one top tip from Studio 10โs Sarah Harris to help labour come along a bit easier.
โDrink red raspberry leaf tea to soften your cervix if you want to hurry things along! I skulled the stuff and Paul came two weeks early,โ the 38-year-old mum of two wrote.
Studio 10โs Sarah Harris suggested Sylvia to drink red raspberry leaf tea to soften her cervix.
(Image: Instagram @whatsarahsnapped)In an additional comment, Sarah wrote, โIn saying that though โ you do you! Lots of well meaning (๐๐ผโโ๏ธ) people will give you advice but you donโt have to take it!โ
But it seems that the advice was good stuff, with many other mums commenting on Sarahโs thread with their own similar, positive experiences.
โI drank raspberry tea with two of my sons. Wish I knew about with my first born I was in labor for over 18 hours!โ one joked.
โI have 4 boys, all early, no stitches & always took raspberry leaf in the last trimester!โ remarked another.
And even Sylvia herself was appreciative replying to Sarah saying, โThis is great advice!โ
Guess Sylvia will be trying out some raspberry leaf tea in the near future!
(Image: Instagram @channel9style)While there isnโt much official science behind raspberry leaf teaโs relationship to inducing labour, itโs thought to be a uterine tonic that boosts blood flow to the uterus and strengthens the uterine muscle fibres.
As well as supposedly kicking off the labour process by triggering contractions, having a strong uterus is also meant to stave off excessive postpartum bleeding.
