Prince William’s role as future King of England comes with its stresses, there is no doubt about that.
But when it comes to raising three excitable children whilst under a strict lockdown (possibly even more so than the rest of the UK, being a royal and all)… well, that’s a whole other ball game.
Oh, and it’s a ball game a lot of people can relate to.
Speaking to guests in attendance at an event in Belfast held on Emergency Services Day, Prince William opened up about the realities of parenting amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to HELLO!, Wills told a police officer, “I think every parent is breathing a sigh of relief that school has started again.”
He added: “Five months – it’s been wonderful, but it’s been a long five months.”
The Cambridge kids have been a handful, by the sounds of things.
(Getty)The Prince and wife Duchess Catherine have three children under the age of 10 – with eldest son George, seven, Charlotte, five and two-year-old Louis known for, er, causing slight mayhem from time to time.
Duchess Catherine also opened up about looking after her children – and homeschooling them – during lockdown, revealing that George was proving to be the trickiest.
“George gets very upset because he just wants to do all of Charlotte’s projects. Spider sandwiches are far cooler than literacy work!” She told ITV’s This Morning.
Duchess Catherine spoke of homeschooling George and Charlotte in a candid Zoom interview earlier this year.
(Kensington Royal)The pair have also admitted they didn’t quite let on some crucial facts about school terms to their two eldest.
In April, the royal couple forwent the niceties of the Easter holidays, skirting over the fact that George and Charlotte could have been having a little break from their school work.
“Don’t tell the children, we’ve actually kept it going through the holidays. I feel very mean,” Kate told BBC Breakfast.

This aside, William and Catherine have taken the parenting in their stride, no matter how excitable their children can be.
In April, the family partook in a very special tribute for frontline workers in the UK. Appearing on BBC One’s Big Night In, the Cambridges were filmed outside their Norfolk home joining the Clap for Carers initiative, which saw people across the country break into applause each Thursday evening.
Looks like this royal lot aren’t so different from the rest of us, when you really think about it.
