When it comes to the battle of the baby names, everyone has an opinion. And it seems none more so than your own family…
In an online-community confessional, mumsnet user Aygirl has opened up on a dilemma she’s been dealt that hits quite close to home: her mother and brother don’t want her to run with the name she’s picked out for her baby-to-be.
And the name in contention? Iris James.
According to AyGirl, her brother got “very upset” because a) he believes ‘James’ isn’t a girl’s name and b) he wants to use the name James for his first-born son… who hasn’t been born yet.
And her situation has left the internet divided.
ElsaAintAsColdAsMe wrote, “It’s fine to use, your brother is being weird and can still use James as a first name for the son he may or may not have one day if he wants, “ while Skittlesss agreed, stating: “I think you should keep it. It sounds lovely and goes with your other two [kids’] names.”
However, other users like EveOnline2016 care to disagree.
“Sorry but James is either a boy’s [name] or surname. It’s not you who has to live with that name but your potential daughter.”
In our opinion, shovetheholly put the whole moniker debacle rightly: “This is a total storm in a teacup.”
Although… if we did have to make any suggestions, we’re not opposed to names like William, Harry, George, Kate and Charlotte…
