If there’s one thing Pink can’t stand it’s mummy-shamers or as she refers to them, “parenting police”.
In a recent Instagram post, the pop star shared a photo of her dyeing her eight-year-old daughter, Willow Sage’s hair blue.
In the caption, she showed solidarity towards Jessica Simpson who was recently trolled for allowing her seven-year-old daughter, Maxwell “Maxi” Drew to dye the ends of her blonde locks pink.
Pink captioned her image: “I heard people were bummed on Jessica Simpson for letting her seven-year-old get her hair colored. So we thought we’d share what we did yesterday.”
The mum-of-two added several hashtags to the post, including “blue hair don’t care”, “get your own kids” and #parent police area ctually just lonely sad people.”
To stop any backlash being directed her way, Pink disabled the comments on the post and cheekily added the hashtag, “oh look ma no comments.”
The Instagram post shared by Jessica Simpson was of her daughter Maxi’s showing of her dip-dyed locks that were inspired by the Dove Cameron’s character, Mal, in the popular Descendants franchise.
The post was met with loads of negative comments.
“So sad to see a child this young getting her hair dyed. She looked so much prettier with her natural golden locks. She still should be a child in every sense. That time is short,” wrote one user.
“OMG!! Too young to start damaging her hair,” posted another.
“Why start ruining her hair so young,” commented another.
Thankfully, there were also plenty of people who stood up for Jessica.
“For everyone freaking out over a little color on her ends, remember us 90’s kids taking highlighters to our hair at school?! Come on, I had wash our hair color and spray all the time,” said one user.
“DON’T LISTEN TO ALL THE TROLLS!!! Your daughter’s hair looks fabulous and it is better for your hair when it is professionally done to protect the health. People have nothing better to do than criticize someone else’s parenting,” reasoned another fan.
In April this year, Pink appeared on Ellen and announced that due to the online mummy-shaming comments she receives, she would stop sharing photos of her children, Willow, 8 and Jameson, 2 on social media.
“I like to share my family,” she said. “It’s my proudest moment in my whole life. I’m prouder of my kids than anything I’ve ever done and I just won’t share them anymore. I won’t do it.”
Thankfully, Pink chose not to let the trolls win and has gone back to sharing images of her gorgeous kids.
