They may not be as high-profile as the Beckhams, but Peter Dinklage and his wife Erica Schmidt have a love story that’s as sweet as Game of Thrones is gory.
The actor, who plays Tyrion in the hit television series, has been married since 2005 and let’s just say his relationship is a lot less dramatic than that of his character’s.
Peter and theatre director Erica Schmidt began dating in the early 2000s and by November 2004, were engaged. The notoriously private couple then eloped in Las Vegas back in 2005.
Speaking to the Guardian, the actor spoke about how “brilliant” she is, especially when it comes to her career.
“She loves theatre. Unlike a lot of other people in our profession where film is the ultimate goal, theatre is sacred to her. It’s not entertainment; it’s art.”
“She’s very inspiring. She’s definitely the artist of the family…I am just the TV actor who pays the bills.”
Erica, who has a even directed Peter in a 2015 production of Ivan Turgenev’s A Month in the Country.
Peter and Erica also have two children, a daughter born in 2011 and a second child born in 2017.
The couple have not publicly revealed either of their names, or even their youngest child’s gender, though Peter spoke out when false reports claimed his daughter’s name is Zelig.
“Let me tell you right now: her name is not Zelig. But it’s hilarious that that’s a fact in Wikipedia,” the Game of Thrones star told The Guardian in 2015.

Along with his wife and children, Peter Dinklage currently lives in New Paltz, New York and has done since 2012.
Chatting to Rolling Stone, he said that he liked living in an area where he wasn’t constantly recognised and where their daughter can have her own room unlike their inner city apartment but admitted that whilst he loved the area, that they couldn’t stay their long because of his wife’s career.
“The list of people happy here is probably my dog, me, the baby, then my wife – from happiest to least happiest,” Dinklage told the magazine at the time.
As for Erica, it’s safe to say she is smitten with her husband.
In 2012 in the Rolling Stone interview when Game of Thrones was gaining fame, she remarked how girls had lately been “licking his face.”
“But what’s frustrating about it is that Pete is an incredibly handsome, charming, funny guy, but when he does a magazine or something it’s like, ‘Isn’t it amazing he’s four foot five inches tall and he’s sexy?’ You know, that’s just who Pete is. And the rest of the world has to catch up.”
