If you are a new mum like me you will be entering the party season with some trepidation! It’s so hard to dress a post-pregnancy body and there is also the added bonus of a bigger bust to contend with. You might be thinking about not venturing out at all!
All you need to know is what dress styles suit your postpartum figure best! I’ve put together a list for you with some options. You just need a little confidence boost from your attire and these dresses will give you that extra lift. Trust me, you will be going to that party this Xmas and New Year!
The Wrap Dress
The wrap or wrap front dress is great for post-pregnancy! It shows off your fabulous curves and hides the ones you don’t want to draw attention to. Embellishments on the sleeves and neckline draw eyes upwards and a full skirt will hide that postpartum tum. Also easy access for breastfeeding!
The Printed Dress
Printed dresses are a great way of disguising lumps and bumps. They also hide breast leakage if you’re nursing and baby vomit – the glamour! Choose styles that fall from under the bust-line with a flowing skirt. Kimono sleeves are very flattering too. A shirt dress is also a good option, easy for breastfeeding and you can add a belt when you continue to lose weight.
The Empire Maxi-dress
Empire line maxi-dresses are really comfortable during your post partum stage, they flow over the body and provide a great all in one outfit so you don’t have to think too much. They are also very flattering on the legs, hips and bust. Look for ruching, detailing or embellishments on the bodice area to draw the eyes upwards away from your jelly belly. Wear with wedges for extra comfort.
The Drape Front Dress
A drape front dress is great for hiding the post- baby bump! Choose a dress that has ruching and gathering around the tummy area rather than one that clings. Opt for a wrap style, v-neck or straps if you’re breastfeeding.
The LBD
Black is your friend! It’s very slimming and easy to wear. Opt for trapeze style dresses with extra volume, floaty dresses or boxy shifts. Ruffle or lace detailing and embellished or deep necklines draw attention away from your tummy area.
The Swing Dress
Swing or trapeze style dresses are fantastic for camouflage! Look for above-the-knee dresses with a loose silhouette, add a pair of heels and you’re done. Why not opt for a bright colour?
There we have it ladies! Everything you need to know to get that perfect dress for party season!
