Former Australian netball team captain Laura Geitz has given birth to a healthy baby boy!
The netball legend shared the exciting news with her social media followers by uploading a precious first photo of herself alongside husband Mark Gilbride and their beautiful new addition.
She captioned the family photo, “We are so blessed to have this little man in our lives!”
The 29-year-old also revealed that she and her hubby have named their little bundle of joy Barney Ross Gilbride – in memoriam of the Queensland Firebirds legend’s late father.
Laura’s father, Ross Geitz, tragically passed away in 2013 after he was thrown from a steer, leaving him with a slow bleed on the brain.
The netball star also made headlines in early February as it was alleged a Gold Coast police officer illegally accessed her personal information.
Broadbeach officer Stephen Patrick Wright has been stood down after allegedly illegally accessing more than a dozen people’s files, including Ms Geitz, between April and October 2016.
It is alleged he accessed the Queensland Police Records and information management Exchange (QPRIME) database without consent over 80 times in that period – a figure that has been disputed by his lawyer, Calvin Gnech.
Police confirm the officer was stood down from official duties last December over the allegations, but was still allowed to perform “non-operational duties”.
Congratulations again to the happy new parents!
