A mother’s scathing blog post about a raunchy TV advertisement that aired at 8am has gone viral.
Florida woman Rebeca Seitz was watching Good Morning America with her two young children when a commercial came on that nearly caused her to choke on her cornflakes.
The ad, for new ABC drama Betrayal, showed a completely naked couple kissing and apparently having sex.
“Confusion. Disbelief. Did that just flash on my TV screen? In front of eight-year-old Andy?” Rebeca wrote on her blog in a post entitled “Morning Sex”.
“This was a commercial airing while we all enjoy cornflakes and coffee and wish our kiddos a good morning.
“My kid saw that … Not because I took him to a movie wholly inappropriate for his age. Not because I quit parenting and just told him to turn on the TV at 10pm and watch whatever. Not because I turned on a show this morning that he had no business watching with me.”
Within hours, the blog post had been shared by hundreds of thousands and Rebeca was being interviewed by radio shows and websites across the US.
“I cannot ever be okay with naked people having sex in the middle of Good Morning America,” she told conservative website The Blaze.
“Sex is a beautiful exquisite gift between two people who are married.”
Rebeca has since filed a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission, the body that regulates advertising standards in the US.
But while many Americans obviously agree with Rebeca’s complaints, she has also faced criticism from people accusing her of advocating censorship and “over-sheltering” her child.
