A man has been charged after he attempted to abduct a seven-week-old baby from his mother’s side at Sydney’s Bronte Beach.
Seven News reports the baby was lying on a towel next to his mother on Monday at 6pm when a 38-year-old man approached and tried to grab the child.
The woman pushed him away and the pair were involved in a struggled before nearby lifeguards intervened.
Police from Eastern Suburbs Local Area Command arrived a short time later, arresting the man.
The woman, who did not know the man, suffered minor injuries but did not seek medical treatment.
The man was refused bail and is expected to face Waverley Local Court on February 16 charged with attempted child abduction and common assault.
