Sporting legends Lisa Curry and Grant Kenny have announced the untimely passing of their beloved daughter, Jaimi Lee Curry Kenny, aged 33.
The former Olympic swimmer and her Ironman husband, who officially divorced in 2017, confirmed Jaimi died peacefully on Monday morning at the Sunshine Coast Hospital in Queensland.
“It is with a very heavy heart that Lisa and I confirm that our beautiful daughter Jaimi has lost her battle with a long-term illness and passed away peacefully in hospital this morning in the company of loving family,” Grant said in a statement on behalf of his family.
“Jaimi will forever be remembered as a caring, bright and loving soul who always put others before herself.”
“Our hearts are broken and the pain is immense but we must move forward cherishing every wonderful moment we got to share with our treasured first child.
“We thank the incredible team at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for their tireless commitment to making her better and giving us as the extra time we were able to spend with her. It goes without saying that this is a very difficult time for family and friends and we trust we will all be allowed to grieve in privacy.”
The family did not elaborate further on their loved one’s illness.
In June, proud mother Lisa penned a poignant tribute to her eldest to mark her 33rd birthday.
“Happy birthday to our beautiful Jaimi… 33 today ! Our first born🤗 Really…. where have all those years gone ! Have a lovely day bubba 😍 We all love you so much 💕💕💕💕💕,” the 58-year-old said via her Instagram page.

After tying the knot in 1986, Lisa and Grant fast became the ultimate Aussie sporting poster couple and welcomed three children together – Jaimi Curry Kenny, daughter Morgan Gruell, who is just weeks away from welcoming her second child, and son Jett Kenny.
Jaimi was also incredibly close to her adored half-sister, Trixie Box, seven, who Grant shares with radio presenter Fifi Box, and nephew Flynn Gruell, two.
Lisa and Grant separated in 2009 and officially divorced in 2017.
Lisa has since found love with Elvis impersonator Mark Tabone and the couple tied the knot in May 2018.
Last month, Lisa explained to Now To Love that she and Grant have always strived to be harmonious co-parents.
“Grant and I as parents, we always said we will always be there for all our kids, for everything that they do,” she explained.
“Every success, every failure, every try, everything it didn’t matter. Just being there and being proud is really important as parents.”
Our thoughts go out to the entire Curry Kenny clan during this extremely difficult time.
