Former Bachelor star Laurina Fleure has admitted she was terrified of becoming a mother when she found out she was expecting.
The 38-year-old, who shot to fame on Blake Garvey’s season of The Bachelor in 2014, revealed she considered having an abortion but has since embraced pregnancy.
“I didn’t think I’d ever have children so there were a lot of tears at the start and just fear. I didn’t know if I’d ever be responsible enough and I did wonder whether I should see it through,” she told the Herald Sun.
Laurina, who is 21 weeks pregnant with a baby boy, admitted she was unsure if she was “emotionally and spiritually” prepared to have a baby.
The former Bachelor in Paradise star, who founded Beauty Aqua beverages last year, said focusing on her career left her unsure about motherhood.
“I thought how am I going to lift boxes and do all that when I’m pregnant,” she said.
However, Laurina’s love for her partner James Black made her realise she wanted to become a mother.
“I said I wouldn’t have a baby unless I was madly in love and I am madly in love with the young man I’m with. It’s taken me a few months but I am in awe of the love that’s growing in me and I’m excited for the life we are building,” she said.
Laurina has long been candid about her fertility journey, previously admitting that she had started to think having a child wasn’t “in my cards.”
“I was with James when I was going to freeze my eggs and I didn’t react well to the hormones so I gave up and thought I’d struggle to have a baby,” she said.
Laurina is best known for complaining that Bachelor lead Blake Garvey had taken her out for a “dirty street pie” at a food truck instead of being treated to a lavish date like the other contestants received.
Four years later, in 2018, Laurina made a brief return to screens on the first season of Bachelor In Paradise.
