It’s safe to say if you were in Sydney for New Year’s Eve 2020/21 you were having a relatively low-key celebration thanks to the terribly timed lock down, that, let’s face it, was the icing on the garbage cake that was the year past.
A quiet night at home is exactly how Bachelor stars Matty J and Laura Byrne were planning on spending their night.
That is until the mum-to-be landed in hospital with what she thought to be an early labour.
On the latest episode of her podcast, Life Uncut, with fellow Bachie star Brittany Hockley, Laura recounted the terrifying ordeal.
“At 11pm we were like, ‘Yeah, let’s go to bed,’ and at 11pm I started to get the worst cramps which landed me in hospital,” she revealed.
“So I spent my New Year’s in hospital.”
“This baby has been a nightmare, anyway it’s still in there, still cooking, five more weeks to go!”
As with her first pregnancy with daughter Marlie-Mae, Laura has been completely candid about her struggles, in hilarious fashion.
“32 weeks marks the point in this pregnancy where I now sneeze simultaneously out of both ends. #pregnancypartytricks,” she shared in one post.
And with the countdown well and truly on to her due date, she’s sure to have her hands full when baby number two arrives.
“I remember a time when we used to go to the beach to unwind. We’d lay our towels down… close our eyes… sun bake,” the doting mum began in another hilarious post.
“Now it’s a 2.5hr cardio session from hell running after a half baked toddler who insists on eating her body weight in sand and has a fist full of hot chips shoved in her butt crack.”
There’s only more of that to come!
Laura and fiancé Matty J first announced they were expecting their second child in September 2020, half way through the pregnancy.
“I recon we’ve kept this little beach ball under wraps for long enough…..” Laura captioned their sweet announcement post before cheekily adding: “A big shout out to @matthewdavidjohnson for his contribution.”
