Mother-of-three Kim Kardashian welcomed her daughter, Chicago West, via surrogate last week, but now many are wondering if she’ll be able to breastfeed.
According to parenting expert, Lyss Stern — CEO of Divamoms.com — she can, however, it would require a lot of medication.
“It’s better known as induced lactation that makes it possible for these new moms to have the breastfeeding experience,” Lyss told Life & Style exclusively.
“Kim would have to talk to her doctor to start the process and to stop it when complete. She would need special medications to induce lactation.”
The process would also require taking hormones.
“She would need to start taking hormones prescribed by her doctor to trick her body into thinking she was pregnant. Then her doctor would have to have her stop the hormones and give her medications and herbal supplements to help promote milk production. She would also most likely start to pump so that she would produce more milk.”
That being said, it may not be for everyone. “It all depends on the woman’s body” Lyss told us. “I believe that if Kim wants to breastfeed since she welcomed baby No. 3 via surrogate, she can. It is NOT impossible.” She continued, “With the proper preparation, she can have the same bonding experience with her baby that was born via surrogacy.”
Kim and her husband, Kanye West, confirmed their baby girl’s birth on her website, writing, “Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl. We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care. North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister.”
Recently, however, reports claim that Chi’s siblings — particularly North — are having a hard time sharing their parents’ attention.
Luckily, Lyss has some words of wisdom for the reality star and her rapper hubby: “Kim can make sure North and Saint bond with their sibling by making sure they are included.” She added, “Of course they are going to be jealous, those are normal feelings, however she needs to keep reminding them how much she loves them and that her heart has enough love for all three children. She should also try and spend some additional alone time with North and Saint so that they feel her love and don’t feel ‘left out.'”
