The Kardashians are no strangers to online criticism. Earlier this year, it was Kourtney who faced a wave of backlash for allowing daughter Penelope, four, to wear a lip ring, but now it’s Kim who’s come under fire for her parenting methods.
What appears to be an adorable photo of her 18-month-old son has instead sparked a heated debate among parents, who believe the tot’s choice of front-facing car seat is unsafe.
“It’s illegal to have a child facing forward in California that is less than two years old. Please turn his car seat around, it’s not too late,” one follower commented, with another adding: “That kid would be safer in a rear-facing seat, please get informed!”
The Kardashian-Jenner klan reside in California, where it is required children under two ride in a rear-facing car seat unless the toddler weighs over 18kgs, or is taller than 100cm.
While Kim is yet to respond to the backlash, parents and fans all over have rushed to her defence, saying those criticising her choice of car seat positioning are unaware of little Saint’s height and weight.
“Give her a break, can’t she feel normal posting her child without everyone shaming her? It’s her child, and how does anybody know his weight and height,” one fan commented. “Didn’t realize so many people had degrees in car seat positioning,” another remarked.
It’s not the first time Kim’s sparked car seat concerns among parents. In 2015, the 36-year-old shared a snap of daughter North in which it appears her seat straps were fastened incorrectly.
The photo was deleted shortly after.
