A five-year-old boy has told of how he saved his dad after he was struck by a tree – albeit a little tearfully.
The boy from the US was inside his house when he saw his father hit by a falling tree as he was working on his tractor. Immediately springing into action, little Xander McPheeters ran outside and helped his father turn his tractor off, before alerting his neighbours to seek help.
“I saw a tree hit him and I runned out there and I helped him turn the tractor off,” said a tearful Xander. The neighbours then called an ambulance, where paramedics were able to get Xander’s father to a hospital.
After spending a week in hospital, Mr McPheeters was able to see his son nominated and awarded a local ‘hero’ medal, the ‘Hobies Heroes Award’, for saving his dad.
Giving a sweet interview after his win, Xander confessed that he really just loves his dad.
“I helped him,” said Xander, “I love him.”
