When Harper Seven Beckham was born in July 2011, she may not have been David and Victoria’s first bub, but as the first girl she was always going to be a special one.

“I am so proud and excited to announce the birth of our daughter Harper Seven Beckham,” David shared in a statement on his Facebook page at the time.

“She weighed a healthy 7lbs 10oz and arrived at 7.55 this morning, here in LA. Victoria is doing really well and her brothers are delighted to have a baby sister xx.”

Even as she edges closer to her teenage years, it’s safe to say she will always be her parents’ baby, especially when it comes to those harsh realities of growing up.

Daddy’s girl

From the moment she was born, Harper was the apple of David’s eye.

In fact, her middle name Seven is a nod to her dad’s number that he wore on the pitch back in his professional football days.

“I have no power with that little girl, no power whatsoever,” he previously told Entertainment Tonight.

“I love all my children of course equally but I’m definitely stricter with the boys than I am Harper which gets me in trouble with my wife of course.”

A fashionista just like her mum

When your mum is Posh Spice and a fashion designer, it’s in your blood to be well dressed.

By the time she was eight, Harper had received her first couture dress (designed by Victoria of course) and had sat next to Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour in the front row at Fashion Week.

“She loves to play with makeup, she has been able to run in a pair of high heels for a long time. So proud!” Victoria joked to Seth Meyers on his late night talk show.

Tomboy antics

Speaking to Ellen DeGeneres in 2015, Victoria revealed that Harper is “a little tomboy” and isn’t afraid to play with her older brothers Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz.

“She loves to wear little dresses but then she loves to put her football boots on and get in the garden with her brothers and have a bit of rough and tumble which I think is great,” the former Spice Girl remarked.

Whilst Victoria admitted that when Harper said she thinks she wants to play football as “a dagger through the heart”, her dad couldn’t have been more proud.

“It was the best thing I’d ever heard I think…I love it. Victoria’s like ‘We have four children, three of them are boys, all love football, please let me have one that wants to dress like me or wear high heels!'”

In 2022, Victoria also revealed that Harper isn’t one to go full glam.

“She’s not one of these kids who are going out with a full face of make-up and a crop top,” she revealed to Vogue Australia in July 2022.

She’s not afraid to tell it like it is!

Youngest children are known for getting away with more than their siblings and in the Beckham family, it’s no different.

“She actually said to me recently, ‘Mummy, I’ve seen some pictures of you when you were in the Spice Girls and your skirts were just unacceptable. They were just too short’,” Victoria revealed in 2022.

“Then David piped up and said, ‘Absolutely, Harper! They really, really were.’ And she was actually quite disgusted at how short my skirts were. I said, ‘Are you never going to wear skirts like that?’ She said, ‘Absolutely not.’ We’ll see.”

According to her parents, Harper is “a little tomboy”.

David and Victoria have the same concerns as other parents

As Harper approaches her teen years, we’ll no doubt see her have her own Instagram account like her parents and brothers. However, her mum and dad know the realities of internet trolls firsthand.

“Harper isn’t on social media, so we don’t have to worry about that just yet. But seeing how cruel people can be, yes it really does [concern me],” Victoria admitted.

“She’s at that age where her body is going to start changing, but it’s about making sure that we communicate a lot as a family and she surrounds herself with nice friends. But it is quite terrifying, I can’t lie.”
