Hamish Blake’s fatherhood journey is everything we ever thought it would be – he is goofy, devoted, creative, and at times a little chaotic.
The comedian likes to document the trials and errors of parenting on his Instagram, and it’s one of the most uplifting parts of the internet.
Over the years, some of our favourite moments from Hamish include his paddleboard session in the rain with his son Sonny, born in 2014.
As well as letting his daughter Rudy, who arrived in 2017, paint his nails with a sharpie, and building a cardboard racing track for easter eggs.
Then there is the lockdown series and Hamish’s unorthodox homeschooling techniques, like teaching Sonny how to make a grappling hook and allowing his children to trap him in rubber bands.
Of course, it would be a shame not to mention the incredible birthday cake making journeys the 40-year-old has taken us on with a whisky in hand.
It’s always a nail-biting series of Instagram videos. But to his credit, he takes the humble cake to places it’s never seen before by building electronic elements and three-dimensional accessories.
However, alongside every crazy task that Blake traverses with Rudy and Sonny, there are as many wholesome moments between the three.
For all the fans who adore Hamish’s parenting antics just as much as we do, here are some of his best moments.

Hamish, a proud father, celebrated his “boy’s 8th Birthday” by posting a sweet picture of Sonny planting a kiss on his cheek.
In his caption, the comedian gushed, “HBD Sonny, you are the greatest guy I know x.” However, he also admitted feeling nervous about nailing his cake duties.
“I feel immense pressure for this one. But I will give it my all. May all the elements be with us 🙏,” he shared.

On his Instagram stories, Hamish felt a little sentimental and posted a picture with his son on a bike ride together.
“Happy 8th birthday Sonny boy!!! My all time favourite guy ever. Nothing beats being your dad.”

Hamish took his kids to the arcade, and he had a few thoughts about the currency while Sonny tapped into his inner Daniel Ricciardo.
The comedian pondered, “If there is less valuable currency in the world, I’m yet to find it.”

His daughter seemed to have the same concerns, as she looked appropriately irritated that her 100 tickets were only worth a bouncy ball.
Hamish shared a snap of her unimpressed face, which he captioned, “Trying to compute how 100 tickets = a tiny bouncy ball,” and he narrated her reaction by quoting, “…the fu*k?”

Sometimes parents want a wholesome moment with their children, whether it’s a stroll in the park or tucking into a book together.
However, kids can have their own plans, and Hamish felt the wrath of his son’s high energy before bed when he shared a video of Sonny putting his feet on the comedian’s face.
“Managed to capture on hidden camera the high level of respect I’m getting at bedtime book readings these days…,” he wrote.

It took 250 days of lockdown, but Hamish has finally stumbled upon the “horizontal bungee.”
The comedian has one-upped himself, and his daughter, Rudy, is clearly chuffed with his work.
Hamish shared a video on his Instagram of the “Floor Bungee,” and he captioned it, “Can’t believe it took us over 250 days in lockdown to discover horizontal bungee! 🙂.”
Plenty of parents can relate to going stir-crazy in lockdown, but at least, for Rudy’s sake, her dad is making the most of it.
See the hilarious video below to watch Hamish’s genius floor bungee in action.

We’re not exactly sure what’s happening in this picture, but Hamish captioned it, “No Teletubbies were harmed in the taking of this photo.” Phew.

Hamish hilariously captioned this picture, “When my son was one week old he whispered “get me some god damn entertainment down here” and, of course, I was impressed by his vocab but also smug because I knew within seven years I would fulfil his request. 🙏.”

Sonny and Hamish went on a brave adventure, and the comedian documented their journey in his caption.
He wrote, “Camping. An inspiring photo essay about a father whom some said had gone overboard buying outdoors gear. But he ventured into the wild anyway with his son literally looking to him to save both their lives. Using Bush skill and friendly locals he located a spot to camp.”
“He tamed the tent. He then tamed some local grass. He then tamed fire. He then tamed a sausage. Then he had some pasta expertly tamed for him. Then he tamed some marshmallows (not pictured) and the next morning some breakfast was tamed by the group. Camping is about pure survival and, if time permits, some memories and sugar. Great weekend of all 3. #icamped #itcounts,” he continued.

Hamish made this stick fort for his children, and he looks pretty proud of his creation.

“Power hug and suddenly he’s off to school! I know everyone says it goes fast but I am genuinely expecting his year 12 results by about next Thursday. #firstdaychamp #healsodidgrea,” wrote Hamish.

Hamish tried to work with Sonny to help fix their door knob, but things didn’t quite go to plan.
“We were legitimately so proud of our repair job on this door handle that fell off until we realised what we’d done…. #tooltime 👍,” he wrote.

The nappies aren’t going to buy themselves, and Hamish documented his supermarket journey with the caption, “Really great, uncomfortable, super expensive bad value hack for if you can’t get toilet paper ATM. Stay strong. Stay creative. #lastpack 💪.”
