My little girls need their mummy

Mother of two battling breast cancer after having brain tumour removed last year

After undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumour last year, Sydney mother of two Anna Talarico was slowly but surely getting back into the swing of things.

But all that changed when she discovered a lump in her breast in September. The 42-year-old was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy two weeks later.

Now on the brink of commencing chemotherapy, Anna’s sister-in-law, Carla Capraro, has started a Go Fund Me page to help Anna, Anna’s husband Nat, and their two young girls, Liliana and Lola, overcome their financial struggles.

“My brother is quite a proud person, and no one likes to ask for help, but it had gone beyond the point of being proud, and every little bit helps,” Carla explained to The Weekly.

“Times are tough for everyone, and with both Nat and Anna out of regular work at the moment, they are struggling to make ends meet.”

“As family we help as much as we can, but they’ve had to hire a live-in nanny to help with their two daughters, so any and all money raised will be going towards paying for that, as well as all of Anna’s medical bills.”

The campaign has raised $25, 000 in a little over two weeks, and after initially being upset with her sister-in-law, Anna is now taking comfort from all the support.

Writing an update on the Go Fund Me page, Anna explained how overwhelmed and grateful she was from the response the campaign had received.

“As I started reading all your beautiful messages my heart swelled. I cried and cried, not because I was sad but because I know I’m not in this alone.”

“My family comes first, and now that I can organise people to help look after them whilst I go through chemo, I feel like a heavy weight has been lifted.”
