Like it or loathe it, sometimes there’s no denying the power of social media.

A US couple has been granted a Facebook miracle after raising $33,000 to adopt a child in just three days.

Jack and Jessica Hance, a youth minister and family minister from Louisiana, started their journey through the complicated adoption process more than two years ago and each took up second jobs to fund the expensive endeavour.

A call from an adoption agency last week that a woman, nine months pregnant, had chosen the couple to adopt her child was a miracle in itself for the hopeful couple but also delivered a whole new challenge.

“We talked to the lawyer, we talked to the agency and were informed that the total cost of the adoption, uncontested, will be $32,250,” the couple wrote on their Facebook page.

They were also informed that while the baby was to be delivered at any moment, the lastest they could pay and finalise the adoption would be 72 hours after the birth.

Seeing the short window of hope as a sign, Jack and Jessica took to Facebook and created the page Help Jake & Jessica Adopt to reach out for donations.

“Just think if 300 people donate $100, we will make it,” they wrote on February 22nd, the date they launched the page, and the due date of the baby.

After only three days the page had gained hundreds of likes and seen $27,000 deposited into the couple’s ‘adoption fund’ account. By the time the baby’s mother gave birth, they were up to $33,000.

“Oh my goodness! WOW! We have reached the magic number! I don’t know what to say. That was way too generous!!” they wrote.

“We will never be able to show how grateful we are to y’all!”

Since the successful social media campaign, Jack and Jessica have picked up their daughter Eliana, posting pictures of their “little miracle” and continually thanking supporters.

“She will know this amazing story and journey she was a part of before she was born!”
