‘He has Down syndrome, but my son can fly’

One creative father has found a way to make his little boy fly.

When Alan Lawrence’s fourth child, a boy named William, was born with Down Syndrome, the father-of-four was consumed with emotions of “fear and frustration and selfishness”.

Not fully understanding Down syndrome, Alan set out to create the best life possible for his little son, Wil.

As Wil grew, and slowly recovered from his infantile spasms which left him “emotionless”, Alan discovered that his little boy was so much more than just a “special needs” baby, and he could do so much more – he could fly!

With the help of a little Photoshop, and a good camera, Alan started taking pictures of Wil whizzing about the world.

“These photos of Wil flying have taken on a special meaning for me as I think about the unique challenges Wil is going to face growing up. I hope to teach him that even with his disabilities he can do anything he puts his mind to.”
