Britax Car Seat Safety Recall

Thankfully the mass recall doesn't apply to Australian products.

Car seat and pram manufacturer Britax has announced a recall of more than 200,000 car seats due to a safety defect in the harness adjuster button.

The recall is limited to the U.S convertible car seat models in the “ClickTight” range. A fault in these models was found in the shoulder harness adjustor button. The button remains in the ‘release’ position and causes the shoulder harnesses to loosen from a child’s movements.

Mother and Baby contacted Britax Australia to find out whether the mass recall affects Britax car seat models in Australia. Britax reassures Australian customers that the recall is limited to U.S. car seat models and does not apply to their Australian products.

“We have heard about it [the recall] but it definitely doesn’t apply to any of our car seats.”

Britax Australia explained that the U.S have different car seat safety standards than in Australia and therefore produce different careseats to meet U.S. safety standards.

The “ClickTight” range involved in the U.S. recall is not sold in Australia.
