Christmas is a time for being with family, but things are going to be a little more complicated in the Pitt-Jolie household this year.
According to reports, Brad Pitt, who turns 56 on December 18, will spend his birthday celebrations and Christmas Eve with three of his children, whom he shares with ex-wife Angelina Jolie.
According to Entertainment Tonight‘s source, Pitt’s 13-year-old biological daughter Shiloh and 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne will be with their father on his birthday and at his Los Angeles area home on the day of Christmas Eve.
However, the source did not reveal why Pitt’s adoptive children Maddox, 18, Pax, 16, and Zahara, 14, won’t be joining their siblings.
While the source noted that “all are always welcome at Pitt’s home,” all six children will be with their mother on Christmas Day.
According to a previous report by Woman’s Day, Brad and Angelina have been locked in an ongoing custody battle and the elder children aren’t keen to maintain a relationship with their adoptive father.
“The older kids don’t want to see Brad – it’s an opinion they’ve repeated several times, and he’s accepted that’s probably never going to change, especially with Maddox.”
However, for the younger children, they’re getting caught in the crossfire, especially Shiloh.
“The twins are too young to understand, but Shiloh’s having trouble coming to terms with it all,” spills our insider, who Woman’s Day cannot name for legal reasons.
“She’s the one who wants to repair her relationship with Brad… but Angelina worries he’s going to cause real damage because he struggles to accept and understand her desire to dress like a boy.”
Tensions between Brad and his eldest son Maddox were recognised shortly after the 18-year-old arrived to study at Yonsei University in South Korea
In a video obtained by In Touch, Maddox was questioned by paparazzi about his family, with one asking if Brad was was going to visit him at university, to which he replied, “Um, I don’t know about that … what’s happening.”
Maddox was then asked if his relationship with his father is over for good. And ever the diplomatic son, Maddox simply replied, “Whatever happens, happens.”
