A new baby often means a new easy-to-maintain hairstyle. Here are five celeb-inspired styles

A new baby often means a new easy-to-maintain hairstyle, or just a new ‘do to mark the next chapter in your life. Here are five celeb-inspired styles from Hollywood’s most stylish mums.

The Pixie Cut

This short style is the ultimate wash-and-wear ‘do, but is deceptively versatile. This style is a little bit different, so it’s works best on those with plenty of confidence! The length on the top means you can mix up the style textured and choppy, side part with pretty clips, or sleek and stylish. It works best on straight hair that’s fine to medium in texture.

Who’s worn it? Selma Blair, Michelle Williams, Halle Berry and Natalie Portman.

Michelle Williams wears the short crop with some extra length on top for more styling options.

Halle Berry’s had long, medium, short, and short-short hair … we think this style suits her best, so easy to style and so quick.

The Classic Bob

This is the next step down from the crop, for women who want a change but not too much. It suits most face shapes and is good to help hide a bit of the fuller face your pregnancy weight might have given you. You can blow-dry it or use a straightener for a sleek look, or use curlers or a curling iron to add some wavy texture.

Who’s worn it? Katie Holmes, Danni Minogue, and Shannyn Sossamon.

Soft curls add body to Danni Minogue’s mum-friendly bob.

Shannyn Sossamon named her child Audio Silence. Yes. She may have quesionable taste in baby names, but she’s got a great bob haircut that’s super-quick to style.

This is a no-risk style that will flatter anyone’s face and suits all hair textures. You can pull it back into a neat ponytail, or give yourself an amazing blow wave in less than 15 minutes for a more polished look.

Who’s worn it? Nicole Richie, Alyson Hannigan and Heidi Klum.

Alyson Hannigan looks great wearing this low-maintenance hair style.

Heidi Klum rocks the medium-length layers. As a mother-of-four she needs hair that can be pulled into a messy bun or tamed with a round brush and hairdryer. Winner!

The Fringe

A fringe is a great way to change your look and help to flatter your face. There are lots of different styles of fringes, so talk to your hairdresser about which one might suit you best. For inspiration, here are some celebs who we think wear their fringes the best.

Who’s worn it? Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Alba and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Of course, Jessica Alba looks great no matter what she does – but the fringe is a great look for her.

Long Layers

This does require a bit of extra maintenance but long hair provides you with lots of options: ponytail, half-up-half-down, down and flat, down and in long waves, and much more. You need to add layers to long hair. having it all the one length will pull it down and make it look flat and drab, regular trims and conditioning treatments are essential too.

Who’s worn it? Julia Roberts, Cindy Crawford and Elle Macpherson.

Elle Macpherson is a long-time fan of this natural style. Although she probably had a nanny and hairdresser on standby to help her keep her locks tamed in her early parenting days!
