It’s been more than a week since radio host Ash Pollard and her partner Pete Ferne welcomed their daughter to the world.
But despite initially keeping the intimate details of her delivery under wraps, today they’ve revealed all: including the inspiration behind the bub’s beautiful moniker.
“I went in for a vaginal birth and I ended up having an emergency C-section. It was an absolute ordeal,” she told Hit NSW Breakfast‘s Gawndy and Maz on Tuesday.
“I had to be induced, which means they technically induce your body to make you go into labour and then that wasn’t working.”
Then, 48-hours later, Clementine Abigail Ferne finally made her entrance earth-side. But as she “was on so many drugs” at the time, the former My Kitchen Rules star said she was surprisingly spaced out.
“I shouted over the curtain that separates me and my operation, “Have you sewn me up yet? Put me back together and get me out of here!” she laughed, adding that Pete felt totally “helpless” throughout the entire ordeal.
“You know what’s funny… no matter how much a guy reads a book or their mates tell them about something, you will just feel so helpless. [He] was doing all the right things but when you’re in the middle of labour and having all these contractions that are so effing hectic, you can’t do anything.”
The couple had trouble settling on a name at first, with Ash admitting that ‘Fergus’ was the front-runner if they had ended up with a boy.
“The craziest thing is… you don’t have to think of a name for your child for 60 days,” the 34-year-old added.
On Sunday, Ash, who has previously starred on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and Dancing With The Stars, took to Instagram to share the very first picture of baby Clementine with fans.
“She’s here! 👩🏼🦱🌸💗 #Obsessed,” she captioned the black-and-white snap of herself and her newborn enjoying a cuddle in bed.
