The 41-year-old star, who often shares snaps of her feeding her babies, told E! News: “I just think it’s important for women to feel comfortable feeding their babies wherever”.

“If we’re in public, we shouldn’t have to go in the bathroom,” the former Charmed actress added.

“I don’t want to eat in a public bathroom. Why should I feed my baby in a public bathroom?”

Alyssa said she didn’t understand why women came under fire for sharing breastfeeding photos with friends and family on social media.

“I think it has a lot to do with the sexualization [sic] of women’s bodies,” she told E! News. “I think it’s almost more shocking if you show a picture of the body doing what it’s supposed to be doing than a sexy picture of yourself in a bathing suit or something like that. It’s just a weird double standard I think.”

Earlier this year fellow actress Olivia Wilde featured in a breastfeeding photoshoot for Glamour magazine with her son Otis. “Breastfeeding is the most natural thing,” she said at the time.

Singer P!nk is also an outspoken advocate for mothers breastfeeding their babies in public, telling people to just accept it. “I think breastfeeding is healthy and natural and it’s a comfort to my baby,” the pop star said after her daughter Willow was born.
