Your next holiday is coming up, you have taken the time off work, have your passport ready and are browsing around for the best flight deal online.
But let’s be honest: what you really want to know is what airline gives you the most legroom? After all, 24 hours to London in economy is tough.
Thankfully, Skyscanner has taken the legwork out of the equation for you by compiling data from Australia’s leading international carriers to help you decide which economy flight is the best one for you.
Comparing Air New Zealand, Emirates, Etihad, Qantas, Singapore Airlines and United Airlines is no small task, but we can now tell you that the best airline for legroom in economy is United Airlines, with up to 93cm of space on a Boeing 737-800 (738) V3 or Boeing 757-200 (752) V2 planes.
In terms of seat width (another important factor for a good night’s sleep), Singapore Airlines’ Airbus A380-800 or Boeing 777-300 offer up to 48cm of space.
Sadly, the Spirit of Australia ranks pretty low in both of these categories, with only 78cm of legroom across all planes and 43m of seat width.
This is a turbulent time for airlines, with many resorting to cost-cutting measures in a bid to remain competitive and profitable.
After QANTAS changed its inflight entertainment options across domestic services, the budget model of travel, seen across Europe and the US, seem to be the way forward.
Obviously there is more to consider when choosing your flight, like price, cabin baggage, inflight entertainment options and meals, but at least you’ll be sitting pretty with the most space available.
