It’s been a big few months for South Australian-born speech pathologist Olivia Rogers
8 Weeks ago, she moved to Melbourne, this week she entered the final heat of her first beauty pageant and took out the coveted beauty queen title of Miss Universe Australia 2017.
The stunning blonde from down south only entered the SA heat of the competition after another contestant pulled out, she was initially conflicted on whether she should enter at all.
After speaking with friends and family, she gathered the confidence she needed to enter.
Proving that everyone has their insecurities, the beauty admits she was daunted by the bikini element of the competition.
Olivia spoke of her nerves in the lead up to the swimwear section of the competition to the Sydney Morning Herald.
“I thought I was going to throw up all day,” she said.
Clearly she managed to hold it together, taking out the 1st place title.
With 32 smart beautiful women sharing the stage with her, it was definitely a tough competition.
Taking to Instagram, Olivia opened up about how she was feeling after her life-changing win.
“I’m a little bit speechless, which doesn’t happen often,” said the Speech Pathologist in an image caption.
“I am so incredibly honoured to be able to say that I am Miss Universe Australia 2017. Thank you to Troy & Sophia our wonderful directors – this competition is amazing because of you. Thank you to the gorgeous 31 girls standing up there with me, I love you all so much!!!!!”
“Thank you to the sponsors for making this happen, we seriously couldn’t have done it without you! and of course a huuuuuge thank you to my amazing friends and family for believing in me & for all of the generous messages of love and congratulations – I’m so overwhelmed! I am beyond excited to represent this beautiful country, I will do my best to make you all proud.”
Miss Australia 2017 and her Instagram famous Malamute, Mooshie
Olivia has a rather accomplished social media following, but it’s nothing compared to her pet Malamute, Mooshie, who has an Instagram following of over 123K! That’s more than most humans.
In May, the Daily Telegraph called Mooshie the most popular Instagram dog in Australia. Not much could take the attention away from his stunning and charismatic owner, but Mooshie’s adorable antics are certainly giving her a run for her instagram likes.
Olivia will compete in the final stage of Miss Universe 2017 in November.
The last Australian to take home the ultimate title was Jen Hawkins in 2004.
We’re well due for a win and will be rooting for Liv as the competition moves closer.
