The global push towards more environmentally-friendly practices has officially arrived in Hollywood, with sustainable fashion being a huge focus on the red carpet at the 2020 Academy Awards on Monday.
And leading the charge was the legendary Jane Fonda, who presented the night’s biggest award – Best Picture – while wearing a stunning recycled red gown she first wore six years ago.

(Image: Getty Images)The 82-year-old donned a figure-hugging red sparkly Elie Saab dress during the ceremony, exactly the same frock she wore in 2014 to the Cannes Film Festival premiere of Grace of Monaco.
Jane, who has recently been participating in a series of ongoing climate change protests, even getting herself arrested, also debuted a shorter pixie haircut at the Academy Awards.
Jane looked positively radiant during the ceremony.

She showed off her brand new chop on Instagram.
(Image: Instagram)On Instagram, Jane explained that the jewellery she wore to the Oscars was also sustainable.
“Wearing Pomellato jewellery because it only uses responsible, ethically harvested gold and sustainable diamonds. #oscars @pomellato,” she wrote, alongside a glamorous selfie of her bold new look.
And as these photos from the gown’s first outing back in 2014 reveal, Jane still looks absolutely incredible.

At the Golden Globes in January, celebrity guests were fed vegan meals, a move designed to encourage more environmentally-friendly eating habits.

Like Jane, Joker star and Best Actor winner Joaquin Phoenix also committed to promoting more sustainable fashion practices during awards season.
He has worn the same Stella McCartney suit to every single awards show over the past few weeks, in a bid to encourage celebrities to re-wear more of their designer outfits on the red carpet.
