Week one of The Block featured a baptism of fire for this year’s Blockheads as they were challenged to present both a finished guest room and ensuite in just seven days.
It was a task too big for many of the teams, with several failing to finish at least one of their rooms.
But in week two, it seemed the five teams were much more adept at taking on the impossible task ahead, with all couples managing to complete their rooms.
While transforming a space into a formal living room was smooth sailing for some teams – such as experienced property flippers Mitch and Mark – others were in way over their heads.
This week, it was El’ise and Matt who came out triumphant thanks to their efforts. Their sophisticated space and subtle styling won them praise from the judges.
Taking out the win, they were awarded $10,000 cash as well as a prize pack from Gaggenau worth $35,000.
Close behind them were Mitch and Mark. Following on from their ensuite and guest bedroom, the sassy grandads chose to give the formal living room a Hollywood luxe vibe.
Andy and Deb played around with bold colours but with limited time, the couple were unable to really pull off the extra wow factor they were hoping for.
Meanwhile, Tess and Luke’s dramas continued to pile up and firing their builder during the week did little to keep them on track. While they managed to scrape through and present a finish their room, the result was a room that was left wanting.
Confident couple Jesse and Mel also had a tough week and although they thought their expensive fittings would be their ticket to success, the judges panned the room for being “showy” and “dated”.
