December is a magical month, and so much of that magic happens in shopping centres, with a man in a big red suit awaiting in a big red chair.
When the parents of three-year-old Mali Phoenix Williams-Cody took her to see Father Christmas at the local shopping centre, they were a little apprehensive because she “can’t talk very well.”
But as they quickly learnt, Christmas is a universal language.
An employee captured the footage of the young girl excitedly sitting on Santa’s lap, and her parents can be heard off camera explaining Mali’s language difficulties.
“Can she sign?” the man in the suit asks, and her parents reveal that she can a little bit.
What happens next is the most perfect example of what the magic of Christmas really means and incredibly reminisce of the famous film Miracle on 34th St.
The Santa in the British mall has a conversation with the little girl through sign language and her face lights up.
Mali explains to Santa how badly she wants a scooter for Christmas.
“Her reaction is priceless and touched all of us who witnessed it live. I was so pleased I could capture such a special moment and share it with the world,” David Allan, the man who took the video, explained when he uploaded the heart-warming footage.
“Santa wants to make sure every child who visits really does experience what this time of year is all about. Santa will take his time with each and every child and will try and put a smile on their faces,” a representative for the centre told a local newspaper.
“Santa has been coming to the Cleveland Centre for four years now and this has got to the most truly amazing few minutes we have experienced.”
It’s starting to feel a lot like Christmas.
